Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area
I have recently run across Clarence Allen at Allen's Wrench just North West of the Research Triangle. I'm very impressed with him. Small shop. Keeps control over what he works on.

Allen's Wrench
Agreed...busy shop with reasonable advance scheduling. They make an effort not to overdo or over-replace, but to attempt to diagnose the problem and troubleshoot one step at a time. Many shops like to just replace everything of potential concern, ending up with big charge$. Prices are extremely reasonable, too. Clarence is competent and caring for his clients.
