Thumbs up Blue Ridge Mercedes

Hearty recommendation here for Jonathan Hodgman with Blue Ridge Mercedes in metro Atlanta.

He has done a fair amount of work (things I lack the time, tools, or both to do myself) to my old gal 300CD including re-retro-fitting the A/C to R12, which now freezes me out of the car even in an Atlanta summer.

Jonathan is exceptionally thorough and his labor rate is fair as are his prices for parts. It is quite nice to work with someone who clearly enjoys what he is doing for a living - that makes writing him the check somewhat less painful.

Hi - do you have an address and phone number for them? I travel to Atlanta at least once a week on business, and would like to look them up.... Thanks. Don

He also has the sweetest looking 560SEC that i've ever seen. When I lived in Atlanta, I met up with Jonathan who identified a spring perch problem on my W210 and advised me to contact MB Corporate, I chewed them out and they repaired the car for free. That was the first touch.

The second touch was when I owned my W108 that was running horribly when I first got it. Even though Jonathan did not work on this car, he saw me stranded, stopped to help me get the car running and then followed me home.

Now there's a stand up guy for you.

He's probaby one of the most knowledgeable people you will meet in terms of W126's/W124's and mercedes of that vintage. When it comes to old-school AMG work, he's the guy to go to. He's even working on a TWIN TURBO M117 project amongst other things. Those in the ATL area are lucky to have a guy like him in the area.

Talking Blue Ridge MB...

Hey, thanks, all!

Jonathan - I'll be heading to the Atlanta area in the AM. I'll try to call you before I leave... If I have time, I'll try to at least drop by to at least make your acquaintance... I've got an 81 300SD with 276K+ miles... Love my car, and it needs a little TLC beyond my time, ability and inclination...

This copy and paste form of posting you utilize is really useless...

I'm surprised that used my posting for his gripe. Jonathan helped me limp home without taking a penny. I think a private conversation with the forum administrators would have been more appropriate.

Jonathan is a dying breed of automotive professional - he does it right, he stands behind his work and he is a hell of a nice guy to boot.

I find that Matthieu Cama at old world auto is the preferred technician in the state of Georgia. His work is bar none.

I visited Jonathan's shop in Atlanta-Brookhaven last October just before Halloween and spent the morning talking to him, he is a great mechanic and consummate professional dedicated to these older cars.

He showed me the '89 560SEC AMG with just 39k that he had to part out because of a lying ebay seller. From this donor vehicle, he sold me the 2.65 diff and even custom built two custom wood boxes for (UPS destroyed one of them) and now, the diff is in my car, helping it give screaming performance in California.

Here are some pictures of his operation....

Gleason Torsen Limited Slip diff.

His personal coupe here is one of the loveliest ones I ever saw:
