Swedish Werke, Boone, NC

I went there over the MLK weekend for an emergency replacement of my burned-out starter. They had me out in about 24 hours with a new one. Cost me $580 out the door parts and labor incl. tax, I think that's ~$90/hr labor.

I'm happy with the work they did, the guy was awesome in getting me into the bay and working within hours of dropping the car off on a last-minute service call. I'd recommend them to anyone who needs their car done up there.

$580 sounds high to me. A rebuilt starter from Mercedes is $218.00 and it doesn't take much longer than an hour to replace a starter on a 240D. That is a good chunk of money for that job.........

It's Boone. I live there at the moment (at school). Same story wherever you go around here; small town that's in the middle of nowhere, finding a mechanic that's ever seen more than two Mercedes in his life is an accomplishment in and of itself. Everybody charges a premium b/c there's nowhere else to go. Good to know they're at least competent though if you have the cash to get out the door again.

Got a $58.00 oil change for a friend's grand cherokee one time in this town because it needed to go on a long trip and I didn't have time to take it home and do it myself... compared to the $20-30 cost of doing it yourself, that was painful.
