Eastern NC Repair Shops

I am looking for a good MB repair shop in the eastern part of NC. I live in the Greenville, NC area. In the market for a diesel, and my last MB shop was in raleigh. My mechanic there has retired. Thought I would get some recommendations on shops before I try to buy any used MB diesels.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Johnny

You have been warned.

You could ask your retired mechanic if you where satisfied and on good terms for a recommendation as well.

Thanks for input Guys. I will try to contact my retired MB mechanic in Raleigh, NC to see if he has any down east suggestions for a MB mechanic. He was great working on my prior MB diesels. His MB knowledge was truly remarkable, especially on the diesels.

If anyone else has any recommendations in the Greenville, Goldsboro, Wilson, NC area I would appreciate your input as well. If I can not find a good reliable MB mechanic close by I probably will pass on buying the used diesel I have been thinking about buying.

What do you need to do? Can't you DIY most of the work needed, especially with this forum to help? I don't know any shops out that way but your old mechanic might. Why let that hold you back from owning another MB Diesel?

Crashone, I can do quite a bit of my own mechanical work, but would still like to have someone close by for the issues that are over my head. Also, I would like to get a good mechanic to go over this car I am thinking about buying before I buy the car. I normally have done this in the past and it has paid off big time for me.

Not a good region to own a Mercedes. None of those hicks will know how to work on it. Been there done that (Topsail Island). Get yourself a Ford Ranger or similar. Make your life easier.

No not born in NC, but actually most of the people here in Eastern NC can write, read and actually have indoor plumbing.

I have not used this forum in quite a few years, but I don't remember it being used for so much editorial BS.

I had a pretty simple question, and thought I would get an enlightened adult response. So if there are users out there who would like to provide any meaningful input as to a good MB mechanic here in eastern NC, I would appreciate your suggestions.

justwufan I wasn't responding to you but making a comment on the short sighted narrow minded out of state not from around here person that was dissing on this great State. Locals..get to know them, get to know the area or go back where you came from.

As far as MB shops go have you tried Google? What about the whitepages.com, sorry but thats all there is for now.

Crashone, my sentiments exactly.

I was successful getting up with my old mechanic so I am covered for now. Plan on driving/checking out MB tomorrow so hope all goes well and car is not a repair shops dream come true.

Where's the closest MB dealer to you? Is there one in Greenville? I grew up in Kinston and I know there used to be one in New Bern. We actually wore shoes (well, not ME, personally, but I knew of people who did) and had indoor plumbing when I was growing up, too . . .

Dee8go, the MB dealer in New Bern is no longer in business. I believe the closest would be the Raleigh dealer, but their track record with me has been pretty bad. Someone on PP site suggested Import Service here in Greenville, NC so I am going by there this afternoon to check the place out and talk with their MB guy.

That's one of the many reasons I left North Carolina over thirty years ago. Wilmington is pretty nice and the Triangle is pretty progressive. Even Greenville is not too back since you have ECU there. There just seems to be a general dearth of opportunity in that part of the state, though. When I go back to Kinston, it is just such a sad, little town.

Dee8go, you are right about Kinston. Sad situation, but DuPont put a severe whammy on the town/county when they down sized their operations. There are some positive signs, but this economic climate we are in is not good for any part of the country. So much for hope & change.
