I have a 1987 300TDT in which the recall for this part hasn't been updated to the new system as yet. The MB dealer has informed me that the upgrade will cost $1200. Does anybody know if MB should cover the for this upgrade?

In the US this is covered by MBUSA due to EPA regulations. Every country is different on emission laws.
