Hi everyone. A couple of weeks ago I posted about a whistle coming from my front brakes (88 300E) and then the ABS would engage at low speeds (below 20 MPH) when the brakes were warm (rush hour, etc.).
Well, the dealer said it was the ABS sensors ($850 parts and labor!!!!) but that it wasn't necessary for me to replace them now since it was so expensive and it didn't happen all the time.
Now sometimes when starting from a stop and turning left the left brakes seem to stay applied and the car seems to drag the left wheel against its will.
What's going on?
Thanks for the replies.

You should have the wheels checked for loosenes in the bearings and bolts.

Also, you could have a brake caliper locking up.

ABS sensors shouldn't be THAT expensive. They're only about $200 Canadian for each one and replacing them is fairly easy. At least, it is on a 190E.

The front sensors should be mounted by 2 hex bolts each. They'll most likely be located behind the backing plate.

The cables run through a grommet in the fender into the engine bay and terminate at an electrical connector. Should be a relatively large round one. There will be one on each side and they'll most likely be paired up with the wiring for the brake wear sensor.

Pretty easy for the DIYer to replace.
