300E highway revs
I recently adjusted my bowden cable, which made the car much zippier around town, but I think I may have gone a little far as I seem to get high revs at highway speeds. What sort of revs should I be reading at 70mph? at the moment it's around 3500rpm at 75-80mph.

That's correct and proper.

yup.
Last night on the interstate....3500 at 80mph, give or take

Chazola,
Would you kindly describe how this cable adjustment is made? Thanks. Bob |
thanks for the answers.
Bob C- I'm not sure if it's the same for all models, but on mine the cable is located with the throttle linkages, on the driver's side, back of the engine compartment, partly covered by the air cleaner housing and near to the oil filter. There should be a cable that looks like a bicycle brake cable with a white plastic adjuster. You should be able to get to it without having to remove the air cleaner. If I remember rightly you turn it towards the firewall for higher, more 'sporty' rev changes, and the other way for quicker, lower rev changes. I set mine to change up at around 2500rpm with 'normal' pressure on the gas pedal. Took a few trys to get it to my liking, but I think it needed about 2 &1/2 turns in the end. I made a mark on the adjuster and counted each full turn too, just in-case I messed it up:) Hope this helps. |
