remote controll e420
 

My remote controll for the car works the locks by remote, and the key will open the doors from the outside. My probelem is that the key will not start the car. I've gone through the re program stage as the manuel states but no luck. If some knows what my next step would be please let me know.

If we are talking about a 97 e420 then I would try another key. The security system DAS 2 uses a chip in the key energized by the ring around the ignition tumbler to do an electronic handshake. The batteries in the key and the remote control have no function in the DAS security function.
