Has anyone ever changed the Climate Control blower motor in an '80 300D? Mine just went out, just in time for winter. Is this a monster job that is better left to the pros or can a better than average mechanic do it? I have changed 3 in Volvos so I have an idea that it will be as bad or worse. Thanks for the reply.
(I fat-fingered the subject. It really should be 300D not 330D. At least I got your attention :o) [This message has been edited by herbct (edited 10-25-2000).] |
This is a fairly easy job.Remove the panel above the passenger side feet and you can see the three screws holding the blower. This one is easy; you should try changing one on a 114/115 chassis;WOW. The blower assembly is right expensive, but don't despair. You can do it. good luck.

Herb, I hope the passenger side panel in your 300D comes off easier than in my 300SD. See my post about 10 down...
Bill, or anyone, if there is a trick to removing the panel, I'm all ears. Good luck BCingU, Jim ------------------ '96 E300D 60k mi (wife's daily ride) '95 Audi 90 120k mi '92 GMC Suburban 139k mi '85 300SD 234k mi (my daily ride) |
I once had a '77 240D in which the blower motor went out. I was so broke that instead of replacing it, I removed it, tore it apart, and replaced the brushes on the electric motor. Worked great, and was not too terribly difficult.
