stuck steering knuckle and brake caliper bolts
 

I am on my way to replace the lower ball joint, but right when I was going to start by removing the brake caliper, the bolts are REALLY tight and appear "stuck". There doesn't seem to be any rust around the area.. just some brake dust that collected in the general area over the years. I was thinking of using wd-40... but is that a good idea considering there's the brake disk in the area?? Let me know what you recommend. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

well typically the instructions are to use blue loctite. it's not the prmanent kind red but it can make removing a bolt really hard. get yourself a 1/2" driver breaker bar. i used one 18" long.

line your socket up properly keeping it snug and it will come off. just keep at it. but be safe holding the car/wheel up. be sure your car can't come down on you.

Like Craig said, the blue locktite will make those puppies a chore to break loose. A six point socket and a cheater pipe will make short work of the job though. Be sure to clean the threads thoroughly with a wire brush and use a spot of blue locktite on reassembly.

Buy a ratchet with an 18" handle and the movable head. Anyway, you need extra leverage. Mine were quite tight. The bolts come with blue locktite.
