CTP/Idle Speed Contact Switch/S29/3 Test Values
I am checking the resistance with a digital multimeter. My car is a '95 SL500. My reading at closed throttle is 0L. Meaning it is out of range! My reading at open throttle is 1000 Ohm. According to AllData closed should be greater than 20 K ohm and open should be 900-1100 Ohm.
Just not certain if the meter is telling me the circuit is open completely at closed throttle or it is out of range being greater than 20 K ohm and the switch is fine. What do you guys think? Matthew |

An OL reading is not very usefull. One must change the range of ones meter such that the value isn't OL and judge the results. Most multimeters will read mohms so go for it.

Steve,
Appreciate the quick response! The meter is auto scaling and its reading 0L m ohm. I have checked a few known resistors that I have and the meter is working properly. I am wondering if the circuit is completely open???? Matthew Last edited by Adman; 08-01-2004 at 03:52 PM. |

The readings on the old switch were identical to the new switch. The second rebuilt ETA solved the problem.
