To much oil? 99/SLK230 - A/T
 

I seem to have to much oil in my crank case, I checked it the other day after driving to work(about 18 mile on the highway) and it was showing about an inch to an inch and a half above the MAX mark.

A) Can this cause permanent damage?

B) Can this cause a loss in performance?
