Odometer repair
I wanted to post a picture, but various obstacles have appeared in my path. So I will float this post while I'm hopefully out of town for the next two weeks and see what fishees get snared in its net.
I got the clicking odo with no movement of numbers, but with a functional speedo in the 300E. Got the speedo out of the car now and was prepared to send it out when the guy told me how much. $155. Screw that. Although, if it appears its over my head, I'm not going to mess with such a sensitive piece of equipment. On the input side of the gears, the worm gear and the white input gear were not in alignment. The input gear is not slipping on the shaft. Flip the speedo over, on the other side where the main mileage counter ends and where the shaft is supposed to rest in the clear plastic housing is a small noticeable gap, as though it has shifted towards the left input side (worm gear side). There is on the trip meter on the right side (non worm gear side) what looks to be a brass hub fitted in the clear plastic housing that the shaft of the trip meter spins. There is no brass hub on the shaft of the main mileage meter. Is there supposed to be? If I get the guage face off, will I possibly see an obvious solution? If I remove the speedo needle, will it be out of calibration when putting it back on or is there a notch? Do you just orient the speedo needle to the stop at 0mph? Will attempt pictures when back in town. Thanks in advance.

Do the "Forum Search" and you will find what you seek. I did and mine works great.
