1991 190e 2.6 Fuel Pump
I need help in removing the fuel pump from a 1991 190e with 2.6 engine. I know the tank is behind the rear seat. How do I access the pump(s)? The parts dealer websites all say that there are TWO fuel pumps. Is this correct. I have traced the non-delivery of fuel to the injectors. (I disconnected one injector line, and tried to start the engine - no fuel comes out) Could there be other problems that prevent fuel delivery, other than a bad pump?
Thanks for your help.

I found that the non-start problem was NOT the fuel pump, but would like to know how to access it/them.
Thanks in advance.

What, you were out of gas? Share the problem so we can learn from it.
The pumps are under the car near the rear axle, right next to the fuel filter. Usually there are 2 pumps, not always. Gilly

The idea that it was the fuel pump(s) came from the tow truck driver.
I finally spotted the serpentine belt, noting that it was a "little on the thin side." In other words, it had broken longitudinally, leaving a narrow belt intact, but with the portion that had broken off wrapped partially around the viscous fan clutch. The loose end had (evidently) pulled the primary ignition cable off of the distributor -- i.e. no spark. I thought that the theory of "bad fuel pump(s)" made sense because I had disconnected the front injector supply, cranked the engine, but no fuel came out. I later saw that other cars (300e) had relays and fuses that COULD potentially cause a "no fuel delivery" condition. When I went to look for fuses and relays, I spotted the bad belt and ignition wiring disconnected.
