You have to replace all the ACC components in the dash (evaporator, hearter cores, vents and ducts, etc.) and possibly some in the engine compartment (monovalve to 2-channel valve).

It is probably easier to rebuild the old Climate Control Unit.
Does anyone have a electrical diagram for Climat Control Unit for 260E?
I have a witing diagram for conditiner system but it has no info about the Control Units.

Trade it in on a rebuilt one, it's not really repairable at home. Later (post 86, maybe all W124 units) have all electronic components, not the switches on the older units, and don't suffer from broken solder connections.

If the unit is giving you only hot air out the defrost vents or is not switching functions properly (air out the wrong vents), check the fuse first -- if it goes, you get full heat, windshield only, no fan. Replace the fuse, don't just spin it as the aluminum can vanish at the contact point.

If you have power, the vents work right, but the fan is dead, check the strip fuse for the fan (small box next to the fuse box) -- they crack in service and the blower won't run.

If you have only misdirected air, check the servos -- there is a switchover "bar" on the side of the AC box accessable after you remove the glove box (two screws for the catch, 8 "push rivets" -- pull the center up and the rivet base will come out, pull top center down to clear the hook molde into the top, pull liner our). Use a mitivac to test each line, all must hold vac indefinitely.

Converting to a manual control would be a big PITA even if you could get the parts in the USA.

I have no unit to trade it in.
I am getting only hot air out the defrost vents - get full heat, windshield only.
It slowed down after I removed a fan fuse but hot air still comes on high speed.
May I close air flow lines by directly appling the battery +12V to pins (I need to check numbers) on the connector to Climate Control Unit?
I will check a diagram again and post numbers.

If the climate control pushbutton unit is removed, all you will get is hot air out the defrost vents all the time, nothing else is gonna work.

Where is the original unit?

The car was vandalized when I bought it. The engine is fine but the interior was really bad.

If I connect the contacts #1-6 and 8 from the left connector with the Climate Control Unit to the ground, I will have +12V from the fuse 7 on all the servors to close them up.
Or, to connect the pin 5 (wht-red) - it is a windshield "long line" servor 5 and
the pin 8 (wht-blk) - it is a windshield "short line" servor 7 only to the ground to close them?

I was afraid you were going to say that...

Get a used one, it's not worth messing about getting it to work "manually" when for $75 you will likely have complete climate control instead.
