Are you ok? We hope Charley by-passed you but from what we are hearing about Flordia he may have been a nightmare for you also. Let us know.

Well we lost a half days work, and that was about it. Many of my employees live in the country and they predicted it would come right over us, so we took off early.

From the pictures I'm seeing of Orlando I may leave the next time one is predicted our way. We were about 50miles north of the track and all the weather seemed to be to the east of the eye. I have always figured a hurricane would be deminished so much by traveling overland to us (we are 70 miles from either coast), that we wouldn't have to worry. Looks like this one went all the way across the state with hurricane force sustained winds.

We didn't even get a heavy rain. Thanks for the concern!

Glad to hear that. Since Hugo came through Charlotte, I have had a different opion of the weather. The night before Hugo, I was out on the deck talking by phone to a friend in NY. A few hours later, we were hit with 100+mph winds. I personally only had a few trees down but my parents and many others had masive damage. I wish I had heeded the warnings and made plans. We had no power for several days and my parents had no power or phone for 2 weeks. Our shop was closed for 4 working days. (Boy did that hurt.)

I'm happy to hear that it spared you and your family.

Hurricanes are bad news
 

I was driving Charlotte to Colombia during Hugo.
V6 floored, screaming and the speedometer read 35 MPH. :GASP:
Driving into a 100+ mile per hour wind is not for cowards. :D
:o I gave up after the third major highway intersection sign passed me going north. :eek:

Whunter you thats so cool! You should have done it in an S600 you just might have heard some wind noise inside, maybe.

what I remember
 

is exploding transformers lighting the sky in every direction.
Horizontal rain drops stinging like bees.
Power poles falling as you approach them.
Lightning like constant flash bulbs.
Turning a corner on a partly flooded street, and have the wind push my car sideways across three lanes to the curb. :eek:

:D FYI, I was on my way to work, married with bills to pay. :D
