Limp mode on hot days, new clue...

Hi! As every summer my car can turn into limp mode in stop and go traffic. Normally an open hood for five minutes gets it running again. But today I used the cruise control to increase speed and the limp mode disappeared when the ambient temp in the engine bay was chilled down by the speed. The engine temp has nothing to do with this problem, only ambient temp.
So, limp mode is overrun by the CC in this case, maybe this clue can help to find the cause of what is going on?
Any ideas out there?
Thanks!

Well, the CC IS a part of the M16 (EA/CC/ISC) actuator/control unit, and there is a possibility your actuator could be causing your problem; it's definitely in that circuit somewhere, but I have trouble with this diagnosis. What year AMG?

Thank you for this answer, the car is from -94, same as C36 when it comes to engine and transmission. I have been through all the usual suspects, but this experience narrowed it down a little, I hope. I have also checked the linkage, but will do this again now...
