I need to replace the rear bumper pad not the whole bumper, on a 1989 300E. I was wondering if anyone could help me out and tell me the steps which are requiered to do this before I start something which I might not be able to finish. Any help would be apreciated.

If you are talking about the rear impact strip, here is the part number: 124-885-03-21

I have not yet done this but ordered this part recently. Let us know!

You will have to remove the plastic bumper shroud. The ends can be gotten from inside the trunk behind the trunk liner. The center retainer hardware can be removed from under the car. Be careful when removing the plastic shroud. It is large, wobbles around and in your case is 11+ years old (prone to breakage). The impact strip can be removed after you remove the plastic shroud. Good luck..
