I have several problems with my vaccum (I think).

1. None of the doors lock centrally. The trunk lock also will not maintain open position. I have to unlock it each time.

2. Engine does not shut off immediately.

I have repaired the one known crack in the vaccum lines, but don't know how to test which lines are good and which are not; nor do I even know if the vaccum works at all.

Any ideas, techniques on how to test the pump? The lines?

How about repair? Am I better just having all locks manual and forgetting central locking?

Thanks,

Josh,

This subject has been covered a number of times. Suggest you do a search on vacuum leaks in this forum. Posts have covered testing and repair.

Good luck. Hope it turns out to be an easy one.

Get yourself one of the cheap plastic hand vacuum pumps and start at the lines through the firewall next to the oil filter. By connecting the pump and pumping a vacuum, each circuit should hold the vacuum for awhile after pumping it. If the pump holds the same vacuum for 10 seconds or so, your problem is not in that circuit. I think the leak you are leaking for will be significant.

Good luck,

Where is a good place to get a cheap vac-pump for testing?
