When the key is turned to the on position without starting the engine how long should the fuel pump run? If it cuts of immediately what is the significance? Thanks.

Depends on year & type of fuel system. If the car has a M103 engine & is 86-92 model, then its working correctly!

Thanks DOC, I have an 88 with a M102 engine in it but the fuel system and delivery is exactly like the 260E.
