A/C Blower on 92 500SEL
My Heat/AC blower only operates at idle with heavy elec load. Doesn't work until I put in drive at stop and turn on rear defrost and heated seats....then runs fine until I accelerate or put in park, then dies. Motor runs fine at variable speeds so I think it's the controller????? Any other possibilities before I lay out the $250++
Also, how do I access motor and controller on the 140 chassis???? Can't stay cool and move too....HELP!!!!!!!! |

The motor is under the A/C filter. Its under the bonnet. You have to unscrew the big screws holding the huge plastic thing just next to the wipers. Take the whole thing off, unplug the 2 RED/GREEN vacum element and you will see the air filter. Take the filter out and the motor as well as the regulator will be exposed.
As for the controller, its the in-car buttons right? Remove the wood trim, remove the radio using keys and u will see all screws required. You have to remove the radio first, ashtray, the little wood trim ashtray cover, then 2 screws under the ashtray than gear box wood trim, then the other wood trim. |

Blower regulator
There was a fellow ( http://www.benzworld.org/) with identical issues, if everything was on it would work. The solution was to replace the controller and it seemed to have fixed it.
The post was "I really need to get my A/C working again! The days are HOT!" on the 140 forum! Last edited by Peter Guenther; 08-27-2004 at 10:10 AM. |
