300 E squeaks when I get in
I weigh 180 lbs and when I get in the driver's seat the car squeaks. Not the seat but it sounds as if the noise comes from the body under the driver's side. Any ideas?

That's a classic.
It's your support joint that creaks. Its a combination ball joint/bushing. (a metal bushing inside a larger metal bushing) It's pressed into the bottom of the wheel carrier (hub) and the spring link (lower control arm) bolts into it. That ball joint/bushing eventually will rust and/or get stuck and thus can no longer move. Therefore the whole assembly will move inside the wheel carrier and create a very annoying "CREEAK" whenever the wheel carrier moves up or down. -You just don't hear it when you are driving.. Replace them in both sides and the problem should be solved. Freestyler |
How much would that cost, cuz I have the same problem, but the noise is coming from the right rear.

I tried to listen carefully and the noise seems to be coming from the driver's rear wheel. Thus I suppose the suppport joint is in the rear suspension. Easy fix?

I wouldn't know the price for replacing just that one bushing. I had all my bushings replaced in one go.
You can see the old thread here. Freestyler |
Some of the rear squeaks are caused by worn lower control arm bushings....
