Unhappy 95 S320 gauges dead

Hey Guys,
This one has me a little confused. I disconnected the battery to charge it and when I reconnected the cables the gauges are dead and every warning light in the dash is on continuously. I tried the steering wheel left to right trick to no avail. Is there anything else I need to know? I can set the code for the radio fine. I tried disconnecting the negative terminal for 10 minutes -no good. The analog gauges are just completely dead. It has the OBDII connector under the driver side dash. All fuses are good and it starts and runs fine. I am a competent mechanic on the domestic stuff but this is a little different. I am trying all I can to get this fixed before I have to trailer it to the dealer for something that is probably obvious (or not). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Angry

Well Guys,
The dealer has pronounced the cluster dead. To the tune of $1400 plus another $180 to install it.
Now I have worked on many vehicles in my time and never had anything like this happen. Is this some fine German engineering at work or a complete fluke? What a way to start my MB experience...

If you still have access to the car (not locked up in the dealers lot) there is something they may have over looked, unless they specifically state they checked it:

On the right side of the underhood area towards the firewall, there is a removeable cover. Under the cover is where all the control modules are. (There may be a second cover also held down my allen screws, it's called the control module box, there should be several control modules in this box, large ones)
Amongst those modules you'll see one with a small plastic "door" with fuses underneath. That module is called the Base Module, it helps distribute power here and there, and can create a dead cluster like this, also warning lights, etc. So check those fuses in the Base Module!
