34 OR 34R $109 at Advanced Auto Parts ; if it's not on sale this week tell them Pep Boys has it on sale, they'll do a price match.

I just bought the Optima battery from Wal Mart.

I installed the battery and it fits and works fine. There is plenty of space. I didn't need the red pastic support pieces to raise the height. The battery is tall enough on its own. The only problem so far is that I don't know how to secure it. Is there a good way to clamp it or strap it in place?

On my Optima there was a small lip at the bottom that allowed me to use the MB clamp to hold it in place.

If you are going to store the car for 4 months then put a trickle charger on it and/or remove the battery as has been previously suggested. Complete discharge = death to any lead acid battery. Even deep cycle batteries are only resistant to this up to a point. This is the most important thing to know about lead acid batteries. Keep them charged up and they will last a long time. If you let it go to zero then it is a goner.

Thank you for the advice. I intend to buy a Battery Minder or Battery Tender.

I don't have the original clamp for this car. It wasn't there when I bought it probably, because the Interstate battery was so HUGE that there was no place to clamp it or even any room for it to move at all. I think I may stil have a new clamp that I bought for my W201 and never used it. I'm going to go check right now.

Thank You

Those are the clamps. They go in the front. You also need the screw that comes in from the bottom of the mercedes tray..

I love your avatar! Everytime I see it, it puts a smile on my face I used to love that show when I was a child. I haven't seen it since the early 1980s.

BTW, thanks for the help. I'll look fro the screw and clamp down the OPTIMA .
