Cleaning ABS Sensors?

OK, I've got the front hubs pulled off one of the 124s. Am swapping out some warped rotors and got motivated to clean & repack the wheel bearings. I pulled the ABS sensors just out of curiosity and they are covered with very fine metal shavings. Magnetism appears to be holding the metal shavings in place.

Is this normal? Is there any point in cleaning these things up? If so, what method is the best approach?

Thx,

- JimY

I had this too on both front sensors. I simply used my fingers and a piece of fabric to clean them

Count your blessings, Jim. There should be NO metal shavings in the bearings. Wipe off the sensor. You probably extended the life of your bearings quite a bit by choosing to regrease them. Picking up these stray metal shavings is a consequential benefit to having an abs sensor internal to the bearing hub.

Brake parts cleaner got my ABS sensors nice & clean.
