Where can I find the build date on my 89 300e? Also I'm getting a buzzing sound from the rear of the car (fuel pump?) I have went trhough previous posts and learned that the 89 124 has 2 fuel pumps...How could I figure out which one it is? And also where is the fuel filter located? I might as well change this out too!

It could be that your 124 cars does indeed have 2 fuel pumps. Many of the 124 cars have the M103 engine(single oevrhead cam straight 6 cyl). If this is your case, back the car up a bit on ramps. If the fuel pump/filter is located in the same place it is in the 88-91 300SELs, you'll find it just to the left of the right rear tire. It may be covered by a plastic shroud that's held in place by 3 small bolts/nuts. The 88-91 300-SELs have a SINGLE fuel pump. The filter is next to it.
I wonder if your 124 also has a single fuel pump? Once you have backed the car up on ramps, you can get underneath and see what your situation is.

I think they started adding an extra fuel pump into the tank in 85 (for the 86 model) or they may just do it for certain cars. When I went to Brumos to get a fuel pump, I was there for about an hour while they tried to figure out if my 86 300E had 1 or 2 fuel pumps. My car only has one though so I lucked out. Anyhow, I think you can find the build date in the drivers door frame.
