300td rear wiper yet again
 

hello all-

the rear wiper and washer on my 85 300td has never worked correctly during the year that I have owned it. been reading lots of posts here but my problem seems unique. here's the rundown:

intially the washer did not work and the wiper work only intermittantly, VERY intermittantly.

discovered that strutural elements for the wiper assembly housing were broken which did not allow arm to move properly. bought used assembly on ebay which worked when it was taken off the previous vehicle.

new mechanism did not work at all. could only hear clicking at relay when pressing console button. checked fuses, cleaned grounds, checked voltage (12 at relay and motor plug) opened up relay (looks ok).

now washer works with old assembly but not with new, I still hear only clicking sounds when pressing console wiper buttons.

I've read that different wiper assemblies may be wired differently - might this explain the washer working only with the old assembly? maybe the problem with the new assembly as well?

any other suggestions? help greatly appreciated as I really want to get this fixed!

forgot to mention, I am also looking for the rubber seal that fits between the window glass and the wiper mount to keep water out. if anyone has one of these laying around I would glad offer $.
