Follow up on my previously posted
problem with a rough bumpy idle which eluded the auto mechanic and diagnostic equipment. The 'camshaft adjuster magnet' was replaced (located at front of engine). It no longer bumps and surges on one cylinder while idling (although there is slight sublime turbulence persisting in idle. I added injector cleaner to tank and hopefully that will diminish or end that. ------------------ 1979 300D 133K miles 1989 300SE 1995 C280 |
Where is the camshaft located exactly? What is it? HOw much did it cost you? I have same problem, occasional rough idle. Thanks for the info.

How (or who) did you find the solution to your problem?

The part that was replaced was the camshaft adjuster, I feel sure.
I have seen where they can stick at times. When this happens, it leaves the intake cam in a slightly advanced position. To replace is a Pro-only job. |
