'79 300D How to get to gear selector light bulb ? A step by step would be appreciated to avoid breaking wood etc. Thank you. ------------------ 1979 300D 133K miles 1989 300SE 1995 C280 |
Is this the floor shift?
If so, simply remove the rubber trim ring surrounding the shift housing. There is a screw in the front of the shift-housing cover... located above the shifter. Remove the screw, lift the front slightly, and slide back to dislodge from clip in rear.... be careful not to force. If you can see the retaining clip, it can be opened with a long screwdriver or needle nose pliers. Once the cover is off, the bulb is located on the center-left of the shift housing... below the N usually. Pop out the bulb holder and replace the bulb with another 2W bulb. Thanks William, yes it's the automatic transmission gear selector light bulb.
