1984 380sl front wheel bearing inslallation

Is there any tricks to installing front wheel bearings or is this a fairly easy procedure?

Same as any other standard front wheel bearings.

Get new races, too, no point in putting new bearings on bad races.

Can be a bear to get out, they are rather tight (especially Timkens), and make SURE the race seat is clean!

This is the time to change rotors if you need them, too, since you have to remove the hub.

Bearing clearance is pretty critical on these cars -- use a dial indicator if you have one. Else do a search for the methods people use.

Inspect the bearings. If they are less than perfect, the bearing must be replaced as a set (cup and cone). There are two sets per front wheel. Less than perfect would be any denting (dimples), nicks, color (beyond light straw), or loss of honing marks.
