Greetings all. I've been a lurker for about a year and this is my first post. This is a GREAT forum!

For anyone about to change fans at home, I just did using the method outlined on this forum - worked perfectly. You do not need to drain any coolant. Biggest key to success was removing the bumper - it made the job 1000% easier. Also having a variety of wrenches with different offsets helped. I was amazed at how much dirt was caked up in front of the condenser, especially below the line of the bumper (see photo below). Also agree with removing and cleaning the good fan while replacing the bad one, again there was tons of dirt in the housing. Fairly easy job and seems to have cured a slight overheating problem.

Excellent! I got to look behind my fans for that dirt/leaf buildup. It's running fine & I'd like to keep it that way.

ShanB,

Great news. I have to do the same on my 94 E420, so I'm wondering which instructions you used. Was it the ones I posted here:

If so, did the directions work verbatim... or did you have to do anything different? I posted them, but I did not write them.
