P0141/p0161

Hi guys,

This a problem on my '00 C280. I am asking here because I have found this to be the best resource for my ML which is also a 112.

I started the car this morning and the CEL came on, checked codes as follows:

P0141 O2 SENSOR HEATER MALFUNCTION (BANK1 SENSOR 2)
P0161 O2 SENSOR HEATER MALFUNCTION (BANK2 SENSOR 2) PENDING

After car warmed up, I erased the codes and drove 30 miles and the CEL did not come back. Although being heater related they may come back again when starting on cold engine tomorrow. It may not be the O2 sensors because I don't think they will both go bad at the same time.

Any help???

Rene

Started the car today on a cold engine, and the CEL did not came back. It's been 110 miles since I erased the codes.

It is strange though, because it should be rare that both O2 sensors failed at the same time, so something else may have triggered the CEL.

I will keep an eye on it and will update.

Thanks for the help,

Rene

I have a hard time believing that both would fail at the same time too.
However, IF they share a common 12 volt heater power supply, an intermittent connection is possible. ;)

Manny,

That make sense to me. I will check it out.

Thanks,

Rene
