Turn Signal Not Working
 

I have a 83' 300SD and it speraticly goes out when it wants to, and it flickers often. They only turn on at random hours, and only last from 5-60 minutes.
I replaced several lightbulbs (back left and right turn signals, and a brake light) and it worked when i put them in, but went out a half hour later.
I also replaced 5 red 5 blue and 5 white fuses, and put them in the most important locatons.
What can be the problem??

Also: My turn signal stalk is not clicking over as it should proceding a turn. Can this be some kind of wiring that wont take alot of work??
I have no manual either :(

None has experienced this problem?

Did you put in Mercedes bulbs or the proper aftermarket bulbs? Some bulbs will fit and look the same, but are not the right ones. Make sure you have the right ones. I put in the wrong bulb once in my W201 and the cruise control stopped working. When I put i the oem bulb, it worked fine.

I have one (front left turn signal) thats not the correct one, but looks like it. But this has happend before i put it in, but maybe it started messing up when the rear turn signal went out??

Without a manual you are going to be at a disadvantage. Though I have basic skills in reading the schematics, I do find them easy to see how things are connected (to a point).

Until someone with real experience chimes in, the fact that your stalk/switch doesn't exhibit the common traits, I would suspect you may have a problem there. Can you test for voltage at the lights while operating the switch? Are the bulb socket contacts actually making good connections with the bulbs? How about the condition of the wires to the socket contacts? Have you followed the ground wires from the sockets to make certain they are not loose? Correct bulbs and good connections certainly wouldn't hurt as a starting point. When you mentioned replacing fuses, did you follow the fuse schematic on the underside of the fuse cover? Are the connections clean for all of the fuses?

Might be corrosion....
 

Check the connection between the plug and the lead that connects to it. It may have coorosion on it. Happened to my CLK 320....

As far as the problem that it doesn't click off proceeding the turn, that is 100% mechanical as far as I know - something is broken on the stalk switch. And that being the case, your other problems could lie there also, especially since they seem so general - affecting the entire car. Basically, same as what BrierS said. What do you think?

No, i havent checked with a votage meter, i dont know how :(
The connections look pretty good, i havent checked the wires but ill check that also. I did replace 5 red,blue,and white fuses, before i did that though there was a white one in the place of a blue, i found that wierd. Connections do look clean, no rush, corrosion or anything like that.

Are your hazard lamps (4 ways) working correctly?

If so this would eliminate bad bulbs/sockets. The turn signals are connected thru the hazard switch, which I believe on the 126's is also the actual flasher. I know it is on 107's.

Yes my hazards do work, thanks for asking. My bulbs just go on and off whenever they want.
