The emergency brake pedal on my car is loose to the point that the brake light stays on. If I lift the pedal with my foot the light goes out. Can anyone explain to me how to remove the slack in my pedal? I adjusted the bolt on top of the driveshaft in the summer, but after awhile the same symptoms came back.

The return spring may have failed. You will have to replace the assy. (Foot pedal part)
