Here's how I positioned mine. They look the same as when I first got them and it's been about 2 years. I was going to clear coat them before installation because I heard they don't hold up very well, but I never got around to doing that and they're fine.

Mine is completely worn down, there is no color left at all. Its been 3 years and around 100,000 miles.
|
Yeah, the color on those does not last too long. Light blue and red are the two most fade-prone colors.
|
250,000 kms + about 155,300 miles.
So I am due for one of them in around 4,000 more miles.:)

I placed mine in front of the horns, so it wouldn't impede air flow. |

No grill, so mine are on the rear to protect them from wind and weather.

I finally got mine. It took 2.5 months from the time I mailed my form.

I sprayed mine with some varnish, and they still look good after six months.

Eligible for $196K on my euro 83 500 SEC but not worth the time to deal with the lines on the dealer to verify the mileage & seems the badge is not of quality anymore anyway & there is no real nice spot to ruin on the front of a sec I wouldn;t mount it anyway.
I know I got the miles I don't need the badge to remind me. |
Got my 500,000 Kilometer award today

Got my 500,000 Kilometer award today.
Now each car has the 250 and 500 award. The one that arrived today came in a silver folder instead of black. I caclulated that each of these cars would reasonably last another 20 years each. I expect to personally drive them another 15. At my current rate (about 3 to 4 thousand miles a month) I probably should get the next badges at 750,000 KM but have no expectation of being there for 1 million KM or 1 million miles. Although I believe these two vehicles could do it. My 20 year old drives them both and understands what they could do. He has grown up in the 1980. And now he drives it every day. Maybe he will take them to the outer edge and beyond. Tonight we laughed about rolling over the odometer to all zeros, like a new car. |
Installation?
How do I install the darn thing badge came with two shims that fit loosely on the threaded studs. Doesn't seem that there's enough hardware in the box. Instructions would have been nice. Dealer wouldn't have a clue since they knew nothing about the program.
BTW only took two weeks to get mine after mailing the form in. |
Should have came with nuts. You may have to pick some up at a hardware store.
