Greetings Fellow MB'ers...........
I have a 1994 E-320 with 60,000 miles. I just brought it in to the local MB dealer for it's 60K service. All work and then some was done on the car. (man I forgot how expensive spark plugs and wires are)
I noticed yesterday while stopped at an intersection, on a slight incline, that the transmission doesn't "hold" in place. What's up??
Can I do anything/ check or adjust anything or should I not stop at intersections or traffic lights that are on inclines??? Would care to do both but looking for sound suggestions...................................

You should never "hold" a car on an incline with the transmission whether automatic or manual transmission. This causes excessive wear inside the transmission if automatic and with the clutch on a manual.

That's why the brake pedal is there.

Use the brake to hold on an incline and don't worry about whether or not the transmission "holds."

I went through the same thing. The answer is that the later W124 transmissions start in first gear and there is no "hold" effect as in the earlier models that started in second gear. Like Larry said, you must re-learn using the brake.
