Rough starts after warm
Hi,
I have an 86 300E. Lately, I have been noticing that the car when cold will start fine most of the time. Sometimes it will not catch the first time and start perfectly the second time. More importantly though, I noticied after it has been running a bit, warmed and I stop it and after it cools a bit, when I restart it, it will start quite roughly and proceed to diesel idle for about 5 seconds then smooth out. This is a consistent trend. Any ideas? Idle cotrol valve or cold start valve? Thanks for your help. Regards, Mark |

Take a look at this thread. First try the adjustment in Duke's link, then, only if that doesn't help, give the EHA a twist. From your description, only very small adjustments are needed. Like 1/8 turn or so, maybe less.
It's also quite possible that you have some small vacuum leaks that are contributing to the problem. Fix those first. Best of luck,
