93 300e 3.2 squeaky belt

 How do you remove the belt slack that causes it to slip? I saw a belt tensioner on the upper section but no adjustment.

Doesn't the I6 have a serpintine belt? If it does it should never make any noise. I would suspect a bad idler pulley, the belt is self tensioning, the shock and spring tension it.

Thanks Hatterasguy, Are the shock and spring part of the idler pulley? It sure makes a load screeching noise that sounds like a belt, but it could be the idler pulley. The pulley sits pretty close to the top section right?

Deportes,

Look at my reply to "Squeaking near the front of an M103
Jim Anderson" thread below. It sounds like "you have what I have". Not sure, but worth looking into. Let us know what you find.

The idler pulley is a plastic pulley that puts tension on the belt. It is up towards the top, look for a pic on Fastlane. The shock works with the spring to take up the slack in the belt, it is a self adjusting system. Is the belt wearing funny? Is it tight?
