My 'TE has 236k well-maintained miles. Recent complete tune-up incl. plugs, cap & rotor, all filters. Engine burns very little oil (1 qt every 4k miles of aggressive driving), and the entire top end of the motor was done maybe 50k miles ago.

FWIW I replaced the idle control valve and checked all vacuum connections. Appears to idle a bit low, maybe 600RPM per the tach, and the entire car shakes a bit if the car's left in gear but not moving. Runs beautifully, no hesitation, all the way to redline.

Any ideas?

Try a good fuel injector cleaner first to see if that helps. You may need to replace the fuel injectors, if originals. Also check the motor mounts. They go bad.
