1983 380 SL Radiator Question

Hi, I am new to the list:

Question: Could anyone tell me if if a radiator out of an 85-89 560 SL is any thicker/larger than the one used in an 83 380 SL? If so, will the 560 radiator fit without modification? I live in Florida where it's really hot. I was thinking that a 560 radiator might provide better cooling. My present radiator is in need of replacement. Thanks in advance

George

The radiator hose for the 560SL top comes out at the extreme right side of the radiator. The 380 comes out left of the middle if I recall. It also seems that the 380 has a oil cooler. other than those issues the chassis should accept either I would think.

Beachboy,
When your car was built, MB still built a fine car. I would just go with a new 380 radiator. If you think Florida is hot, you must remember that you are driving a world class car. That car was designed to be driven in Egypt, South Africa and places hotter than Florida. If it were me, I'd go with a stock radiator.
