The central locking pump from my 1986 190E 16v keeps running for about 1 minute before switching off.
It happens both ways: after locking and after unlocking.
Does it stop running by itself, or is there any timing relay involved?

Thanks for any help.

Robert

It is timing out, you have a leak.

Within the pump there are switches that turn the pump off after proper pressure is arrived at. If there is a leak this never happens and as Donnie points out the pump eventually times out and shuts itself down.

Thanks guys, I will start searching the leak... ;-(

The leak has been found, and we fixed it.
It was at the actuator from the rear right door.
Everything -except the ignition lock- is working properly now.
