Interior light switch console removal

I need to change the interior light switch on my 97 SL320 and want to remove the overhead console. Any hints on how to release the clips/clamps without breaking. Thanks.

Barry

Have you resolved your problem yet? If not all you have to do is remove the lights, they pop out, do it very carefully and under you will see screws, remove those and you should have enough access to remove the console. If you have to remove the mirror it pops out of the mount, it is loaded in there with a spring really tight, use a flat blade in the metal part and pry it loose.
Good luck!

Thanks for the help. Do I have to remove the mirror before I remove the console? It sounds that I can get to the switch without the need to remove the mirror from the console. Am I right? My car is in winter storage now and will come out in April. I have until then to work up the courage to change the switch!! Thanks for your expertise.
