I have just got my 84'300d back together after checking the timing chain and noticed a (king!,king!,king!) sound at start up. The sound faded after warm up. It was a very metallic sounding knock. I did notice the inside of the valve cover was scratched up where the valves are closest. The car smokes very little and will nearly outrun my wifes 98' s70 from 0-60! I am so paranoid about all the sounds a diesel makes! I had a Peugeot 505td that made less noise than this car and was maintained just as well! That car was disposable however. Any suggestions?
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know I am thankful for all the blessings that have been bestowed upon me! Most of us are extremely fortunate considering what others have to live with. Anyway, have a good one! Joe [This message has been edited by joegolden (edited 11-22-2000).] [This message has been edited by joegolden (edited 11-22-2000).] |
Is this the noise that indicates timing stretch? I can get it replaced for $350. I might just go ahead and do it for peace of mind. Any ideas? Thanks Joe
