Couldn't have said it any better mctwin2kman, thanks for the follow up info! The 722.6 tranny does need extra care and attention. I'm sure other owners can sympathize.

rjnonnie - thanks for the advice I will definetly follow it.
Ed Richardson - thanks for accurate information. MY w/s was in w position.

To quite a few of you I am getting mixed messages. On the one hand you are saying it is "fill for life" needs no attention and on the other hand you are saying 722.6 needs greater care and attention.

I think MB wants the transmission now and the engine in the future to be treated like a jet engine, where the oil is not changed at all, it is just topped off, after few thousand hours of operation "fill for life" the engine needs to be rebuilt where the oil is changed in the process. In the MB case after "fill for life" or in other words 100 to 150 K miles is expired, the trans needs to be rebuilt or replaced with a new one.
