I am not sure where else to post this.
Mercedes-Benz Canada introduces new service concept with M-BExpress Toronto (November 7, 2000) - In mid-October, Mercedes-Benz Canada will launch a new service concept called M-BExpress. As the name implies, M-BExpress was conceived with the convenience of the customer in mind. Most services will be performed in the span of a few minutes, within an hour or a maximum of two hours. While such service-on-the-go is not usually possible within the structure of a traditional service department, M-BExpress was developed specifically for short repairs and/or inspections, allowing customers to wait for their car. The ultra-modern, 8,800 sq.ft. M-BExpress facility was designed for complete operational transparency. A walkway along the service bays encourages customers to meet and talk to the technician attending their vehicle, or to simply watch as the repairs are performed. The facility has eight service bays, a 350 sqft parts department, and boasts the latest, state-of-the art shop equipment. It also includes a three-car pre-owned showroom. A well-appointed customer lounge with a fully equipped business centre, coffee bar and children's play area have been incorporated into the building layout to provide customers with optimal use of their waiting time. COOL. www.mercedes-benz.ca/English/html/index.html Alex |

The most appealing thing to me, if I relied on them to do my oil changes, would be that I could drive my car in for an oil change while at operating temperature and they would drain the oil right then instead of letting it cool on the lot before getting to it. Oil should be removed just after shutting it down so that all the churned up contaminants are removed with the oil instead of clinging to the sides of the crankcase.

It's still too far to drive for an oil change if you live in Scarborough(30-45 min),Richmond Hill,or Markham. The location is west Toronto, far away from many Mercedes.Let's hope they will put one in Central or East Toronto.

Petaling,
I think they have plans to put 4 or 5 more of these around Toronto in the next few years. I am thinking of going there in the Spring to get my brake fluid changed. I think of of the most appealing things about it is that long glass hallway along the service bays so you can watch your car being worked on. Most dealers won't let you anywhere near the service bays. PS, which dealer in Toronto have you found to be the best? I live in Richmond Hill on Yonge St, and have been using the Steeles St. Location. Its OK, but if there is a better one I might switch. Ted Pouloe recommend the Dundas St. location further downtown. This wouldn't be too bad, as I work downtown. ------------------ Jason Priest 1986 420SEL |

I use the one at HWY#7 and Kennedy near my office,it's OK but the waiting list is too long.
For brake bleeding,i use my home made Eezebleed(the original is available is available at many places, including IPD,Volvo specialist at ipdusa.com).I change my own oil using a Pela oil pump+MB filter or Bosch filter.Previously I went to K mart(now Zeller's) at Hill crest Mall.Closed down after changeover.Mr.Lal is working inR.Hill as recommended by ERic Lai of the Toronto Star, though. that service concept is certainly a welcome one. I live in Scarborough and have to make that relatively long drive to the Steeles branch for service. Although the Kennedy branch is nearer to me, the Steeles branch is more convenient for me, since it right along the TTC bus route (i.e., i don't have a second car and/or someone to help me drop off the car).
if only they would open on Saturdays ... |

Been there
The service was good. The best part was no appointment required. Just drove it in and got an oil change and rear differential oil change and was able to watch the work being done.

How much does the MB express charge on the oil change or other maintenance item such as FSS A or FSS B? I might go up to Canada next year and try the service there. I just hope they don't rip me off since I have a U.S. plate.

I think $62 is a bargain for an oil change.
Parts: 7Q of Mobil 1 = $4.38 * 7 = $30.66 1 Filter = $10.00 1 Copper Washer $ .10 Total Parts $40.76 Labor: 20 min $21.24 Total Parts and Labor $62.00 Don't have to change the oil @ -25 degrees and can spend more time with your daughter. Priceless! Car Nut 99 E430 sport |

Went there today to have my belts tensioned (squealing). The technician was bending the radiator hose to be able to reach into the engine and make the adjustments and the plastic connection on the radiator upper hose broke off. Now what would you do? I took it easy since the car is 22 years old and the radiator is old. The radiator is getting replaced as we speak at my expense. Also the tech said that the belt tensioner is slipping and I should have it replaced.

Would it be a good idea to have them replace the thermostat at the same time they are replacing the radiator. Should I ask for anything else at this time such as asking them to flush the system?

while the top hose/neck is known to be brittle,it seems to me the mechanic working at the MB Express is not too experienced.I phoned once and they told me they only have one mechanic on duty on saturday.Until they solve their teething problem,I would avoid going there till things are sorted out.
Besides I use a Pela suction pump for oil change and MB Markham guys refer to this express place as the quicklube place.Well there are many cheaper quicklube places and I dont have to go to Etobicoke.

Picked up the car today and was very surprised to find out that they did not charge any labour for the installation of the radiator. The price of the parts seemed kinda low too.

I have been back a few times for valve adjustments, glow plug installation and a quick lube. The service has been great and it is still drive in and get it done, no appointment. I still call ahead of time, but it has not changed. They tell me just come in when I can.
Petaling where are the cheaper quick lube places you mentioned. Hopefully in Etobicoke or Mississauga. |
