OK to cover air vent grills on SL?

I believe I have leaks coming from rust under the two air grills between the hood and windshield. Will I be doing any harm by covering the grills with small magnetic shields to prevent water getting in there when it rains.
My cabin floors get pretty wet.Im not worried about Co2. THe car is far from airtight!
thanks

Make sure you have some other way to ventilate the interior before you do. Too much chance of CO2 build up without a way to draw out the used air.
