Would a 126 rear seat fit a 116?
I'd like to have rear headrests in my '79 300SD and I was wondering if I found a back seat from a 126, would it fit? I may just find one to maybe steal all the hardware from?
Thanks David |
Not sure but these might look nice:

Sorry, I don't believe rear seats are interchangable between the W116 and W126 bodies.
I think the W114/5 will fit in the W123 and vise versa, but that's the only ones. Peter |

Or get the rear seat of a 450SEL 6.9. Grab the right side mirror if you don't have one. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |
American 116's have dual mirrors. Plus, do all SEL 116's have rear headrests? Also, 6.9's are far and in between as is, what would be the chances that someone here is parting one out? SO, if you are parting out a 6.9, please let me know.
Thanks David |
Not all US 116s have right side mirrors. My 77 450SEL didn't.
In US 116s, AFAIK only 6.9s have rear headrests. All US 116s have front headrests which can be added fairly easily to the rear seat per the thread linked above. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |
Those headrests were from a backseat, not a front seat. I had seen that thread, but I never see any on ebay though and don't really know where to look. I thought 126's were probably common enough that I could find some.
Regarding 116's and passenger side mirrors, at least for the SD'd, which were only in America anyways, all that I've seen have 2 mirrors. The Euro 116 ones don't always though, and I guess maybe not all the gas models did. But there are some other options that were standard on the SD such as bundts that weren't standard on others.
