towing with a 300TE

I wouldn't do it but today I saw a 300TE towing an autocross MG Midget on a flatbed. Over a hill, no less. The rear of the TE looked nice and level.

One more reason we need an open discussion forum

I have a hitch on my TE and have towed our 5 X 8 enclosed trailer on numerous occasions. What is your question ?

No question, just an observation.

Shouldn't be a problem if you don't also load the car to the gills at the same time. Max rated capacity is pretty high -- seven adults plus 200K of luggage....

Brakes are heavier front and rear, etc. Lower rear ratio, starts in second unless you floor it.

SLS will hold it level until or unless you exceed the capacity of the accumulators.

I find that my 300TE tows very well. The self levelling suspension maintains ride height and the car does not get pushed around by the trailer the way some cars do. From memory the towing capacity for mine for a trailer with brakes is 1900kg (the car weighs 1620kg). I like the turn signal repeater light on the instrument panel that flashes when a trailer is connected. It assures you that your trailer turn signals are working and also reminds you that you have a trailer behind, something that is easy to forget because it tows so well.
