Wiper delay does not work

I just bought a '94 E320 and had to replace the wiper motor. The wiper delay does not work most of the time. It had problems prior to me replacing the motor (that was one of the reasons I replaced it).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Make sure you don't have a rain sensor on there. I don't even know if those existed in '94 but if you have the rain sensor then it only goes when it is raining (or you spray the windshield with water).

It doesn't seem to work on delay even when its raining. If anyone knows if it should have a sensor please let me know----that may be the problem.

Thanks!

It could be the combination relay turn signal/hazard signal/rear defrot/delay wiper. The relay is in the relay box behind the fuse box, it call N40 relay. Does your turn signal, hazard signal, rear defrot work? Try to replace with a good relay to see if it correct the problem. I had a problem with the turn signal. It was the combination relay problem. Replace this relay correct the problem. Good luck

Turn signals and everything else works just fine. Do you think it might still be the relay?

It's a good bet that it's the relay. I had the same problem, but in my case, the turn signals didn't work, but everything else was OK.

I agree...it's the relay...I just replaced mine a month ago.

Btw, the combo relay (as it is known) goes for around $124 and up! Leave it to MB to integrate several functions in one unit, so that if one fails, you have to toss the entire expensive component! :(
