A/C repair in winter: good idea?
Is it a good idea to have A/C system checked and repaired in winter?
I can not do A/C performance test until next summer. However, this winter is a good time for me to have it repaired without loaner car. |
You could if you were here in the South, as it was 85 degrees today (I was stupid enough to drive my '76 230 that doesn't have A/C and burned up the whole 30 miles home from work). I don't believe you can get a good feel for overcharge and efficiency without a good running of the system on a good hot day. That being said, a reputable shop with MB A/C experience can probably do the work and get it pretty close. Just be ready to put a set of gauges on it the first hot day to insure your pressure isn't too high on the high side, and that it is low enough on the low.
